Some meetings are just meetings. Others move the needle. The DESIRE (Dialogue Delivery Service of the Inland Revenue) Dialogue is one of the latter. It’s a structured platform where LHDN (HASiL) engages with professional bodies like CTIM, MIA, MICPA, MAICSA, and others to drive operational tax improvements that matter.

As the Chairperson for Tax Operations and Public Practice at CTIM, I recently took part in DESIRE Dialogue 1/2025. Alongside other industry representatives, we tabled practical issues affecting taxpayers and practitioners, from MyTax glitches and MITRS system delays to implementation hurdles in e-Invoicing and e-Services.

What stood out most? HASiL’s willingness to listen and act. Many of our concerns weren’t just heard. They were constructively received, with clear signals of shared intent to improve systems and support the tax community.

Credit where it’s due: it’s easy to criticise systems, but meaningful change only happens when both sides are willing to engage with purpose and persistence. The DESIRE platform shows that when the right people sit down with the right intentions, progress follows.

We look forward to continuing this momentum in future dialogues. Reform is built over time, through conversations that don’t stop at the table.

Thank you, HASiL, for creating a space where this kind of engagement is possible. It makes all the difference.
